As the new development calendar begins, I am honoured to present The Toyin Saraki Global Office Policy & Philanthropy Report 2024, guided by the conviction that Collaboration is Multiplication for Healthy Beginnings and Hopeful Futures. This theme resonates profoundly on today’s United Nations International Day of Charity, which reminds us that charity at its highest expression is solidarity, a multiplying impact through the alignment of diverse hearts, minds, and efforts across borders, communities, and generations.
From Lagos to Davos and beyond, the 2024 activation cycle affirmed that when philanthropy, policy, and practice are aligned, progress accelerates, systems strengthen, and the frontiers of human development advance. Charity, in its highest expression, fortifies health systems, advances the Sustainable Development Goals, and empowers every mother, every child, and every family to thrive.
It was a catalytic year in which advocacy, research, and implementation converged to show that evidence, when aligned with vision, delivers measurable and lasting impact. From advancing global frameworks to close the women’s health gap, to expanding maternal and neonatal survival initiatives, to launching Project Oscar – Light for Life against neonatal jaundice, a preventable cause of disability and death affecting up to 60% of newborns, we demonstrated how unity of purpose translates research into life-saving action.
Across our programmes, the Wellbeing Africa Foundation’s purpose has now reached over two million women, children, and families, a landmark achievement in its 20th year of Delivering Quality Healthcare & Wellbeing for All, which affirms the power of research-driven, locally anchored interventions to advance human development.
Looking to the development year ahead, our charge is to embed research and data into every layer of action and scale innovations to safeguard wellbeing for all, as a strategic and inclusive charity becomes a collaboration, a multiplier of purpose, securing healthy beginnings and hopeful futures.
