Shared Purpose, Shared Progress: Renewing Our Commitment to the Global Goals

As world leaders and global advocates from philanthropy, industry, and civil society converged in New York City for the 80th United Nations General Assembly, I was honoured to accept the invitation of the Gates Foundation to participate in Goalkeepers 2025 and the Private Reception convened by Mr Bill Gates, as we renewed our shared commitment to accelerate progress towards the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development, with particular emphasis on Target 3.2: ending preventable child deaths.

It was lovely to reconnect with long-standing allies and exchange perspectives, including H.E. Former President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania, H.E. Former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo of Nigeria, Strive & Tsitsi Masiyiwam Higher Life Foundation, sporting philanthropists Dr Patrice Motsepe and Mr Masai Ujiri Giants of Africa, each of whom brings a profound dedication to advancing human development and ensuring that no child is left behind.

Hosted by Olivia Wilde with Jon Batiste as musical curator and co-host, the evening brought together inspiring speakers, powerful stories, and unforgettable performances that highlighted the urgency of this pivotal moment in global health and development.
