Driving a PSHE-WASH Handwashing Culture for healthier communities: WBFA-Dettol Nigeria Hygiene Quest Quarterly Stakeholder Meetings

Pleasing progress and valuable feedback reports shared from the Wellbeing Foundation Africa Quarterly Stakeholder Meetings of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa – Dettol Nigeria Hygiene Quest Program, supported by our social impact partner Reckitt, in Lagos and Kwara States last week.

I commend the Wellbeing Foundation Africa for convening the meeting and recognise the steadfast commitment of government ministries, parastatals, education boards, health officials, and community leaders whose collaboration continues to drive this impact as together we reviewed program achievements, highlighted impact stories, and charted sustainable pathways forward.

In just the first half of 2025, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa Hygiene Quest Program recorded remarkable expansion:

  • Lagos State – 72 additional schools engaged, reaching 37,990 students; 265 more healthcare facilities reached, supporting a further 9,256 mothers; and 31 more communities engaged, reaching 2,973 individuals and households.
  • Kwara State – 100 additional schools engaged, reaching 26,550 students; 13 healthcare facilities engaged, reaching 13,082 mothers; and 31 communities engaged, reaching 2,779 individuals and households.

Stakeholders reaffirmed the importance of stronger multi-sectoral collaboration, integration of hygiene education into school curricula, support for antenatal and postnatal hygiene practices, reinforcement of Healthcare Facilities Teach Clean protocols, and deepening community ownership to secure long-term sustainability.

Through these strategic engagements, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa continues to demonstrate leadership in advancing hygiene education, preventing disease, and empowering families to embrace healthy habits for a CleanNaija.
