At the Annual Meeting of the Global Alliance for Women’s Health during the World Economic Forum Sustainable Development Impact Meetings taking place alongside the 80th United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, I was privileged to contribute to deliberations that are shaping the next era of investment and accountability in women’s health. A highlight of this year’s discussions was the presentation of the Women’s Health Impact Tracking platform, developed by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with McKinsey Health Institute.
The Women’s Health Impact Tracking platform represents the first global mechanism capable of quantifying the dividends of closing the women’s health gap, not only in terms of health outcomes, but also in the measurable economic and societal returns that flow from improved equity. By offering a transparent, data-driven framework to count women, care for women, and include women, the Women’s Health Impact Tracking platform strengthens accountability and provides governments, industry, and civil society with an indispensable tool to benchmark progress and catalyse systemic change.
My Wellbeing Foundation Africa believes that, as evidence continues to demonstrate that every dollar and naira invested in women’s health yields multiple returns across prosperity, resilience, and stability, the Women’s Health Impact Tracking platform will be central to advancing the case that women’s health is not a peripheral priority, but the very foundation of sustainable development.
