Championing Global Health Equity: Advancing Reproductive Rights, Immunisation, and Digital Solutions for the Intelligent Age

As I virtually engage with the World Economic Forum under the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” it is profoundly inspiring to contribute and witness the alignment of initiatives focused on immunisation and reproductive rights and justice, as the United Nations Population Fund – UNPFA, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance propel the World Economic Forum 2025 Global Health Equity Network, with the aim to advance patient-centric care, and improve wellbeing outcomes across the globe.

As the UNFPA Nigeria Champion for Family Planning and a member of the ICPD30 International Steering Committee, I align the Wellbeing Foundation Africa’s programming with the UNFPA mission of achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health, including family planning, promoting reproductive rights, reducing maternal mortality, and supporting the National Population Commission Nigeria in accelerating progress on the ICPD agenda, while providing comprehensive immunisation and vaccination services for all ages, ensuring everyone has the knowledge, access and opportunity to lead a thriving and fulfilling life.

The Wellbeing Foundation Africa Personal Health Record, a book in which the medical records of each mother and child are recorded and stored for future reference and analysis, has evolved from a child immunisation and growth record to a comprehensive CRVS tool, creating a centralised health database for many families to rely upon to keep them informed of the necessary health processes in a child’s first thousand days of life.

With the Gavi’s latest report, Protecting Our Future: Gavi’s Investment Opportunity 2026-2030, outlining an ambitious vision to vaccinate 500 million children, potentially saving over 8 million lives, this strategic roadmap emphasises the imperative of zero-dose and missed communities, fortifying the foundation for global health security, and directly building on the need for comprehensive immunisation and health trackers such as the WBFA Health and Immunisation Records, in bridging critical gaps in health data management, and enhancing efficiency and efficacy. Integrating and validating this within the Maternal and Child Health Handbook while supporting its digitisation will revolutionise healthcare delivery for mothers and children, enabling Gavi and partners to deliver health for all as a measurable demographic dividend.

These efforts are not just aligned with global health priorities but highlight the role of advanced digital solutions in bringing us closer to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Let us continue to champion health, inclusivity, and partnerships for the Intelligent Age!
