Advancing Hygiene Education: WBFA Hosts High-Level Stakeholder Meeting on Dettol Hygiene Quest Program

I commend my Wellbeing Foundation Africa Team for hosting a High-Level Stakeholder Meeting and Policy Fireside Chat on the WBFA – Dettol Nigeria Hygiene Quest Program, supported by social impact partners Reckitt, in Abuja, yesterday. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the Ministries of Health, Education, and WASH sectors in Abuja, Kwara, and Lagos State, where our programming and curricula currently operate. It was a crucial platform to assess the program’s journey, review key achievements, and outline the next steps for expanding and scaling impact.

The meeting facilitated discussions with a particular focus on how hand hygiene can be integrated into the national education curriculum. To date, the Wellbeing Africa Foundation Dettol Hygiene Quest Program has engaged over 2,449 healthcare facilities, 370 schools, 312 communities, trained 2,208 healthcare workers, and reached 68,833 mothers, 179,758 students, and 33,280 families.

Through these strategic conversations, we gained a deeper understanding of the successes, and the collaborative approach which strengthens our commitment to achieving widespread hygiene coverage, promoting best hygiene practices, and empowering families to adopt healthy habits in their daily lives for a CleanNaija.

A special thank you to Alhaji Musa Barde, District Head of Galadimawa Community FCT Abuja; Alhaji Mohammed Lambe, Magaji of Gaa Odota Community, Kwara State; and Mr. Oseni Razaq Bolade, Baale of Kolade Lawanson Community, Lagos State, for their invaluable contributions. By working together with partners, government and stakeholders, we not only improve program implementation but also lay the foundation for a future where every community thrives through clean water, proper hygiene and sanitation practices.
