Honoured to be appointed to the Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) Workstream Group

I am honoured to be appointed to the WHO Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) Workstream Group, and contribute my experience to the world’s largest alliance for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and wellbeing, to achieve a world in which they are able to realise their rights, leaving no one behind.

Our MNCH Workstream Group seeks to contribute to reduced preventable maternal, newborn, and child mortality and morbidity, including stillbirths, as expressed through global targets and high-level outcomes included in the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health  (2016-2030).

Reflecting on the Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health 2021-2025 Strategy and Results Framework, these targets include: measurable changes to the maternal mortality rate, under-five mortality rate, neonatal mortality rate, stillbirth rate, alongside improving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Adolescent Health and Well-being (AHWB).

These goals, which embody the mission of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, are inextricably linked and address critical priorities in achieving health for all. As a Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) member for decades, I appreciate this further opportunity to collaborate with members and partners to build on previous impressive progress, as we accelerate our efforts.
