This week, I have the privilege of engaging, sharing insights, and contributing to the Global Activators Network on Maternal Health Workshop in Abuja, convened by the World Economic Forum, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, Nigeria and championed by Ferring Safe Birth, joined by the Wellbeing Foundation Africa Abuja Team, and in my capacity as a World Economic Forum Champion of the Global Alliance for Women’s Health.
This workshop presents a vital opportunity to share frontline insights from the Wellbeing Foundation Africa’s evidence-based programming and best practices, aligned with MAMII, the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation and Initiative, an intervention under Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative, designed to tackle the five key delays that hinder health outcomes, including delays in seeking, reaching, and receiving care, as well as delays in coordination and responsibility.
Reinforcing Universal Health Coverage and prioritising maternal health as a national imperative, The Wellbeing Foundation Africa is proud to exchange successful maternal health interventions tailored to specific contexts which can be replicated and scaled, strengthen local ecosystems and partnerships to support longevity, develop and disseminate models of effective collaborations between public sectors, private sectors, and civil society to problem-solve on the frontier, and further foster country-to-country learning.
I look forward to the continued high-level strategy discussions, knowledge exchange, and strengthened partnerships that will emerge from this convening, as through the Global Activators Network on Maternal Health, we advance data-driven action to ensure safer pregnancies, healthier mothers, and resilient health systems.
